Canary Islands Fruit and Vegetable Sector Expands European Market Presence
The Canary Islands' fruit and vegetable industry is enhancing its European market foothold by participating in the Fruit Logistica trade fair in Berlin. With the backing of the Canary Islands government and entities like Proexca and the Canary Islands Institute for Agrifood Quality, the sector targets new opportunities among 90,000 international visitors.
The delegation includes key governmental and industry figures, such as Eduardo García and Pedro Monzón, who aim to fortify commercial ties, particularly in northern and central Europe. The focus is on traditional crops like tomatoes and bananas, and tropical fruits such as papaya and mango.
Scheduled meetings during the event involve engagements with prominent German distributors like the Keuthmann Group and Frutania, known for their interest in tropical produce. These collaborations are pivotal for Canarian producers to consolidate market positions and explore growth prospects.
