Polaris Renewable Energy's SO1 Agreement Gains Approval from PREPA
Toronto-based Polaris Renewable Energy Inc. (TSX:PIF) announced the approval of its Battery Energy Storage System Standard Offer Agreement (SO1 Agreement) by the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority's (PREPA) Governing Board. The formal approval notification arrived on February 27, 2026.
This agreement is part of the Puerto Rico Accelerated Storage Addition Program (ASAP), designed to enhance grid reliability with utility-scale battery energy storage systems. Polaris Power US, Inc., a Polaris subsidiary, will implement the storage system at the Punta Lima site.
The agreement, pending approval from Puerto Rico's Financial Oversight & Management Board, outlines a 71.4 MW capacity and a 20-year operational term. Polaris expects commercial operations to commence twelve months following the final agreement's execution.
