Piramal Pharma Solutions Opens New Microbiology Lab in Lexington
Piramal Pharma Solutions (PPS) has launched a new microbiology laboratory at its Lexington, Kentucky sterile injectable facility. This initiative is part of an $85 million expansion effort aimed at enhancing commercial capabilities. The lab, operational since September 11, 2026, marks a significant upgrade with features including a dedicated sterility testing suite and increased capacity. It more than triples existing testing space, improving workflow and accommodating future growth.
The facility includes new biosafety cabinets and a Grade A sterility testing isolator. This setup supports both open and closed filtration, doubling testing capacity and reducing potential contamination risks. The enhancements could cut testing times by up to 50%, expediting batch releases and transition processes. These updates aim to boost operational efficiency and prepare for commercial-scale demands.
Nathan Richardson, VP and Site Head at PPS Lexington, emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating that it strengthens their ability to provide high-quality services. The new lab underscores PPS' leadership in sterile injectables, reinforcing its commitment to patient-focused service globally.
