PFISTERER Secures Patent for Advanced HVDC Connector Technology
Winterbach-based PFISTERER Holding SE has attained a significant advancement in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology. The company received a patent from the German Patent and Trade Mark Office for its innovative “HVDC pluggable connector.” This addition enhances PFISTERER's CONNECTOR portfolio specifically for HVDC applications.
The newly patented connector is designed for modern HVDC systems including converter stations and outdoor cable terminations. A key innovation is the "stress cone" design, which minimizes space charges in the connector. Additionally, the connector is made with new insulating materials apt for HVDC needs, supporting voltages up to 525 kV. The technology aligns with international standards and aims for efficient installation and maintenance.
Dr. Konstantin Kurfiss of PFISTERER emphasized the solution's operational reliability under high electrical stress. This development solidifies PFISTERER's role as a tech leader in HVDC systems' global expansion.
