Partnership between Randolph County and Waga Energy for biomethane
Randolph County, North Carolina, has signed a contract with Waga Energy for the construction and operation of a biomethane production unit. Located at the Great Oak waste storage site, the unit will utilize Waga Energy's patented WAGABOX® technology. Capable of processing 4,800 cubic meters of gas per hour, it will produce approximately 179 GWh of biomethane annually. This project aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by 47,500 tons per year and provide renewable energy to the local grid.
This 20-year partnership underscores the commitment of Randolph County and Waga Energy to the circular economy and reducing fossil fuel use. Darrell Frye, chairman of the county board of commissioners, praised the collaboration, while Guénaël Prince, CEO of Waga Energy Inc., emphasized the creation of lasting environmental value. The project is part of a broader renewable energy development strategy.
