Ottobock Expands Neuro-Orthotics Portfolio with Strategic Acquisition
Ottobock SE & Co. KGaA, a publicly listed MedTech company, is set to acquire Fesia Technology, S.L., based in Donostia/San Sebastián, Spain. This move is part of Ottobock's strategic expansion into neuro-orthotics, particularly focusing on Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) products. These products aid in restoring movement lost due to neurological conditions.
Fesia specializes in developing FES systems for various neurological diseases. The acquisition will enhance Ottobock's capabilities in providing care for conditions like stroke, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy. The deal is expected to close in approximately six months, with the purchase price remaining undisclosed.
Ottobock CEO Oliver Jakobi emphasizes the growing relevance of neurological conditions in orthotics. Integrating Fesia aligns with Ottobock's mission to address these challenges while boosting their innovation in neurorehabilitation.
