Ørsted to Acquire Full Ownership of Gunfleet Sands Offshore Wind Farm

Ørsted A/S has decided to fully acquire the Gunfleet Sands 1 & 2 Offshore Wind Farm in the UK. Currently holding a 50.1% stake, Ørsted will purchase the remaining 49.9% for roughly GBP 15 million. The full acquisition is expected to finalize in November, following standard closing conditions.

This strategic move will offer Ørsted complete control over the 172 MW offshore asset, conveniently located 7 km off the Essex coast. The company aims to unlock further potential and maintain flexibility in managing the wind farm's lifecycle, including extension possibilities.

Operational since 2010, the wind farm generates renewable electricity for over 125,000 UK homes. This acquisition reinforces Ørsted’s significant role in the UK’s renewable sector, where the firm supplies around 7% of the nation's electricity through its 12 offshore wind farms.
