OHB Marks 45 Years of Growth in the European Space Industry
On June 30, 2026, OHB celebrated its 45th anniversary. From a small hydraulic repair shop in Bremen, the company has evolved into a significant player in the European space sector.
Mayor Andreas Bovenschulte was among the guests at the Bremen headquarters, while partners across Europe sent video congratulations. OHB CEO Marco Fuchs highlighted their journey, from the initial public offering 25 years ago to a recent capital increase.
OHB's roots date back to "Otto Hydraulik Bremen." Under the leadership of Christa Fuchs and later her husband Manfred Fuchs, the firm pivoted towards space innovation. They launched BremSat in 1994, marking a pivotal company moment.
Over the years, they have diversified their portfolio and, since winning the Galileo navigation contract in 2010, have solidified their reputation. Today, the company boasts over 4,000 employees and reports revenue around €1.2 billion.
