Norwegian Authority Chooses ICEYE for Satellite Monitoring

The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) has contracted ICEYE to implement a nationwide satellite-based flood monitoring system. This will aid in hazard mapping, emergency response, and situational awareness during severe weather across Norway.

Beginning in February 2026, the project will last a year, with a potential two-year extension. ICEYE's services include rapid flood impact updates and detailed analyses, providing timely information for decision-making during weather events.

Utilizing the world's largest SAR satellite constellation, ICEYE ensures continuous monitoring, overcoming challenges like cloud cover and darkness often present in Norway. The collaboration will also involve data-sharing with Norwegian municipalities, enhancing flood management and planning efforts.

This initiative highlights ICEYE's growing role in disaster preparedness and infrastructure resilience, leveraging satellite intelligence to bolster Norway's flood response capabilities.
