Norsemont Mining Resumes Phase Three Drill Program at Choquelimpie
Vancouver-based Norsemont Mining Inc. has announced the continuation of its Phase 3 exploration drill program at the Choquelimpie project in northern Chile. The project, which is 100% owned by Norsemont, targets high-sulfidation gold, silver, and copper resources. The resumed program involves an additional 3,300 meters of diamond drilling across 13 planned drill holes. A diamond drill rig is currently on site to explore deeper high-grade hydrothermal breccia bodies below existing mineral resources.
CEO Marc Levy highlights significant potential for higher-grade gold zones at depth, particularly in zones such as Choque, Vizcacha, and Suri. This phase aims to define the size and continuity of these resources. Additionally, further exploration is planned in the second half of the year to expand oxide resources.
Previous efforts from 1988 to 1996 focused on near-surface oxidized mineralization, with the current program aiming to explore the deeper sulphide resources. Norsemont's Chilean subsidiary, SCM Vilacollo, collaborates with DV Drilling Ltd. to conduct this exploration.
