Nordic Semiconductor Demonstrates Bluetooth High Data Throughput in Silicon

Nordic Semiconductor has successfully proven the Bluetooth High Data Throughput (HDT) feature in silicon, marking a significant step forward for Bluetooth Low Energy capabilities. This enhancement quadruples the current data transfer speed while maintaining compatibility with existing wireless technology.

The HDT feature supports longer data packets, allowing devices like wearables, smart home gadgets, and PC accessories to transmit data more swiftly without sacrificing energy efficiency. Nordic is among the first to demonstrate support for this new Bluetooth feature, ensuring that developers can upgrade without overhauling their existing systems.

The introduction of Bluetooth HDT is anticipated by the end of 2026 through the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). Nordic plans to showcase this technology at the upcoming electronica 2026 event in Munich, Germany.
