Nordex Group Enters Ecuador with 112 MW Wind Project Order
On 17 September 2025, the Nordex Group announced its first venture into the Ecuadorian market by securing an order for a 112 MW wind project. The order involves the installation of 19 N149/5.X turbines in the southern region of Ecuador. This marks a significant step for Ecuador, which currently has only three wind projects totaling 69 MW. The new wind farm will boost the country's renewable energy capacity to 181 MW.
The turbines, part of the Delta4000 series, will be mounted on tubular steel towers with a hub height of 105 meters. The first turbine is expected to be installed by October 2026, with the project reaching completion by March 2027.
Although the project's developer and the wind farm's name remain undisclosed, the project is expected to enhance Ecuador's energy supply during its Amazon dry season and mitigate blackout risks.
