Neoen Launches France's Largest Battery Project

Neoen, a leading renewable energy firm, has unveiled plans for France's largest battery, set to be built in Vernou-la-Celle-sur-Seine, southeast of Paris. With a storage capacity of 496 MWh, the battery aims to bolster the local electricity grid, supporting frequency and voltage regulation to alleviate network congestion around Île-de-France.

The construction, beginning in the summer of 2026, leverages a collaboration with Nidec ASI, tasked with both the battery's assembly in France and its maintenance over the next 20 years. This development not only underscores Nidec's expansion efforts but also affirms France's commitment to improving renewable capacity and energy grid reliability.

Through community engagement, Neoen ensures the project’s seamless integration with local initiatives, such as sustainable development projects and economic benefits for residents. The project reflects a strategic move in Neoen's energy portfolio, previously showcasing initiatives like the Breizh Big Battery in Brittany.
