NanoViricides Proposes Phase II Trial of NV-387 Gummies for Ebola Outbreak
SHELTON, CT – NanoViricides, Inc. has announced a proposal for a Phase II clinical trial of its NV-387 Oral Gummies to treat the Bundibugyo ebolavirus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The outbreak, declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by WHO, shows an increasing number of cases.
The NV-387 drug offers notable advantages over existing treatments. Unlike antibody infusions, NV-387 is administered orally, enhancing scalability especially in resource-limited settings. This drug also exhibits potential for excellent stability and effectiveness against various ebolavirus strains.
As current treatments need complex administration, NV-387's ease of use presents a promising alternative in combating the outbreak. The drug mimics features necessary for viral survival, minimizing the likelihood of viral escape.
