NanoViricides, Inc. has gained approval to advance its NV-387 Oral Gummies into Phase II clinical trials for treating the Bundibugyo Ebolavirus in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This outbreak has spread to 782 cases with 181 fatalities, according to reports on June 14, 2026. NV-387's oral delivery format offers a significant advantage in resource-constrained settings like the DRC, contrasting with existing treatments requiring intravenous infusions, which are challenging to deploy in large outbreaks.

The Bundibugyo strain, suspected to be a new variant from an animal source, presents no existing treatments.
