NanoViricides Gets Green Light for Ebola Phase II Clinical Trial in DRC
NanoViricides, Inc. has secured approval for a Phase II clinical trial of its NV-387 Oral Gummies to treat the Bundibugyo Ebolavirus in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The trial responds to the largest Ebola outbreak in DRC, with over 4,000 cases and nearly 2,000 deaths reported.
Om Sai Clinical Research will conduct the trial, which aims to expedite treatment for the rapidly spreading virus. NV-387 stands out as an oral antiviral, providing an advantage in regions with limited resources. Unlike infusions, NV-387 dissolves orally, enhancing accessibility.
With the outbreak affecting five provinces and spreading to displacement camps, the urgency for effective treatment is paramount. Current treatments have limitations, and NV-387’s broad-spectrum capabilities could offer a viable solution amid the crisis.
