Mutares Sells NEM Energy Group to Hyundai Heavy Industries Power Systems

Mutares SE & Co. KGaA has signed an agreement to sell NEM Energy Group to Hyundai Heavy Industries Power Systems (HPS). NEM, a specialist in heat transfer technology, was repositioned by Mutares into a profitable platform within four years. The company is poised for growth under HPS ownership, supported by a significant order backlog. The transaction is expected to close in Q3 2026.

Mutares acquired NEM Energy in 2022 from Siemens Energy, transforming it into an independent business. NEM serves diverse markets like power generation and energy transition, employing around 470 people globally. This sale represents a successful exit for Mutares, demonstrating their ability to create shareholder value through strategic repositioning.

Johannes Laumann, Mutares' CIO, highlighted NEM Energy as a model of transformation and value creation. This transaction aligns with Mutares' strategy of investing in sectors with strong demand dynamics, such as the energy sector.
