Buderus Edelstahl Divests Two Units to GMH Gruppe

Mutares portfolio company, Buderus Edelstahl, has sold its hot rolling mill and mechanical processing business units, including heat treatment, to GMH Gruppe. Additionally, the drop forging division was acquired by FerrAl United Group. Buderus Edelstahl, a subsidiary of Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, specializes in high-quality special steels and generates annual revenues of approximately EUR 360 million. The sale comes after initial optimizations and transformation efforts post-acquisition and promises further growth potential with GMH Gruppe.

Despite challenges in the steel market, the sale secures approximately 670 jobs at the Wetzlar site. While the hot rolling mill and mechanical processing units move to GMH Gruppe, the drop forging division transitions to FerrAl United Group, a 100% subsidiary of the Mutares Group. The strategic divestment aligns with Mutares' approach to acquire, stabilize, and reposition businesses for resale.
