MicroVision to Acquire Luminar Assets in Strategic Expansion Move
MicroVision, Inc., headquartered in Redmond, Washington, has announced an agreement to acquire assets from Luminar Technologies, aiming to reinforce its position in the lidar sensor market. The acquisition includes crucial intellectual property and inventory associated with Iris and Halo lidar sensors, along with engineering talent and ongoing commercial contracts.
The transaction, finalized through an auction under Section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, secures these assets for $33 million. MicroVision's CEO, Glen DeVos, emphasized the opportunity to enhance their commercial objectives and integrate these assets efficiently into their operations.
The completion of the acquisition is contingent on bankruptcy court approval, with a hearing set on January 27, 2026. The expected closing date is February 2, 2026. MicroVision plans to provide further details during its next earnings call.
