METLEN Achieves Milestone with First Fire at Protos ERF Plant
METLEN has conducted the first fire on waste at the Protos Energy Recovery Facility in Cheshire. This marks a significant milestone, indicating the state-of-the-art plant is in its final commissioning phase. Once fully operational, the Protos ERF will process 500,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste annually, generating up to 49.9MW of electricity to power 90,000 homes.
The facility supports the circular economy by converting residual waste into electricity, secondary aggregates, and recovered metals. METLEN, partnering with Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH, has led the project, navigating technical challenges and time constraints.
This achievement underscores METLEN's ability to deliver complex power projects despite market adversities, emphasizing its commitment to "on time and on budget" delivery. With over a decade of experience in the UK energy market, METLEN continues to strengthen its position with numerous successful projects.
