Lord Ashcroft's Medal Collection Relocates to National Army Museum

Lord Ashcroft's extensive collection of Victoria Crosses (VCs) and George Crosses (GCs) will soon be exhibited at the National Army Museum in London. This marks a new chapter for the collection, which previously resided at the Imperial War Museum. With nearly 250 VCs and numerous GCs, it stands as the world's largest assemblage of such medals. The transition follows the closure of the Lord Ashcroft Gallery last year.

Expressing enthusiasm, Lord Ashcroft emphasized the significance of showcasing these medals, which represent bravery from various conflicts over two centuries. He anticipates a fruitful collaboration with the museum. The collection includes rare items like one of only three VC and Bars awarded in the last 170 years. Public accessibility will commence within two years, supplemented by an array of exhibitions and digital content.
