Loop Industries Plans New Facility at BASF Park in Germany
Loop Industries has set sights on BASF Industriepark Lausitz in Schwarzheide, Germany, for its first European Infinite Loop™ facility. This installation will be the second globally, underlining Loop's partnership with Reed - Société Générale Group. The facility aims to produce 70,000 metric tons of recycled PET annually using Loop's advanced depolymerization technology.
The project, now in engineering and permitting stages, is Loop's premier venture based on its licensed technology model. This initiative allows Loop to scale without the liabilities of direct construction capital expenditures. The German site selection supports Loop's commercialization strategy and aligns with EU goals to modernize plastics recycling.
By leveraging BASF’s industrial infrastructure, Loop positions itself against regulatory challenges while benefiting from European market opportunities. The project anticipates operational status by 2030 and aims to reduce CO2 emissions significantly compared to traditional methods.
