Linde Announces $1 Billion Investment in U.S. Semiconductor Expansion

Linde, a major player in the industrial gases sector, confirmed a substantial investment to aid a significant expansion in the semiconductor industry. The company will inject $1 billion into its Phoenix, Arizona site, underlining its commitment to advancing the semiconductor manufacturing landscape. This move is aimed at supporting the expansion of a key customer's facilities, marking one of Linde's most significant global investments in electronics.

The investment encompasses the construction and operation of two additional SPECTRA® air separation units, bolstering the existing infrastructure. This expansion is designed to enhance the supply of ultra-high-purity nitrogen, oxygen, and argon, essential for the two new semiconductor fabrication plants. Meanwhile, Linde's joint venture in Taiwan, Linde LienHwa, is slated to invest $800 million for similar purposes.

Linde's President, Armando Botello, emphasized the importance of reliable, high-purity gas supply in advanced semiconductor manufacturing. This endeavor highlights Linde's capability to meet the industry’s stringent requirements and expands its influence across key markets such as the U.S. and Taiwan.
