NAGRAVISION and MediaTek Enhance Streaming Security with New DRM Solution

NAGRAVISION, a Kudelski Group company, and MediaTek Inc. announced a strategic partnership to revolutionize digital rights management (DRM) for streaming content. This collaboration integrates leading chipset and content security technologies to ensure renewable, hardware-based protection for high-value content, including live sports.

The partnership introduces an on-device security solution that reduces dependencies on Trusted Execution Environments. This innovation promises robust DRM protection and addresses the surging threat of digital piracy by delivering enhanced security through a hardware root-of-trust and key ladder architecture.

The enhanced DRM solution by NAGRAVISION offers dynamic and secure in-field provisioning. This allows service providers to renew credentials instantly if a compromise is detected. Devices with MediaTek chipsets can now deliver broadcast-grade security, supporting the streaming of premium content at high-security ratings.

Sam Lee from MediaTek highlighted the partnership's aim to adapt to evolving security threats. Stéphane Le Dreau of NAGRAVISION emphasized the solution as a differentiator for service providers aiming to deliver the highest quality content securely. The joint solution is exhibited at IBC 2025 in Amsterdam.
