Knorr-Bremse Acquires duagon to Boost Global Rail Business

Knorr-Bremse has announced the acquisition of duagon Group, expanding its rail business internationally. Headquartered in Switzerland, duagon is a global supplier of hardware and software solutions for safety-related railway applications. This acquisition complements Knorr-Bremse’s existing electronics and software business in the rail sector, promising synergies in revenues and costs.

duagon, established in 1995 and employing about 750 people across eight countries, is expected to generate approximately 175 million euros in revenue for 2026, with an EBIT margin of 16%, excluding integration costs. Knorr-Bremse anticipates EBIT synergies of 5-10 million euros by 2028.

The acquisition deal, valued at 500 million euros, awaits regulatory approval. The purchase will be financed through available liquidity and credit lines. The potential for a performance-based bonus exists, contingent on certain targets. This move could potentially fortify Knorr-Bremse's positioning in the European railway technology market.
