KlimaStaR Milk: Encouraging Results and Future Prospects

On October 8, 2026, Emmi Management AG published a positive report on the Lait KlimaStaR project. Launched in 2022 with partners such as Nestlé and supported by the Federal Office for Agriculture, the project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Swiss dairy production. By 2025, 219 farms were participating, producing 73 million kilograms of milk.

The results are promising: food competition has decreased by 23%, exceeding the initial target of 20%. Greenhouse gas emissions per kilogram of milk have been reduced by 8%. Despite challenges for future reductions, farms are continuing their efforts. A climate calculator is now available for Swiss producers.
