EcoGraf Completes Epanko Resettlement Action Plan
EcoGraf Limited has announced the completion of its Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the Epanko Graphite Project in Tanzania. The RAP, which aligns with IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles, is crucial for the upcoming debt financing phase. Finalized with significant community engagement and input from technical experts, the plan will be submitted to relevant authorities.
The RAP addresses both land and community displacement issues, following comprehensive surveys of project-affected persons. It involves developing a designated resettlement area and implementing livelihood restoration programs. The new resettlement village will include housing, a school, a health care facility, and a church for affected residents. EcoGraf aims to enhance income opportunities through training and new economic activities.
Continuous dialogue with Epanko's community is maintained through a Resettlement Working Group. Community Liaison Officers will ensure seamless implementation of all RAP stages. Andrew Spinks, EcoGraf's Managing Director, emphasized the collaborative effort in completing the RAP, marking a key project milestone.
