Jungfrau Railway Group Experiences a Decline in Visitor Numbers
Jungfraubahn Holding AG has reported a notable decline in visitor numbers for the first four months of 2026. The company attributes this trend to conflicts in the Middle East, resulting in reduced visitor frequencies by 5.7% across its three segments: Jungfraujoch, Experience Mountains, and Winter Sports.
The Jungfraujoch segment saw a drop of 12.3% in visitors compared to last year. Experience Mountains recorded a decrease of 9.6%, with 216,900 guests. Winter Sports skier visits fell by 3.3% to 932,200.
The decline is primarily due to airspace restrictions, rising kerosene prices, and uncertainty, particularly in Asian markets. Despite these challenges, the group maintains a strong booking outlook for the coming months, reinforcing its strategic market positioning. However, ongoing conflicts might negatively impact the 2026 financial results, with further assessments expected in the half-year report.
