Julius Baer Concludes FINMA Enforcement Procedure
Julius Baer Group Ltd. has confirmed the conclusion of FINMA's enforcement procedure concerning historical issues within the company. The enforcement procedure addressed a major credit event in the former private debt division and legacy anti-money laundering (AML) compliance issues. These incidents occurred before the current management team took charge.
The company has implemented comprehensive remedial measures, reforming its Executive Board and aligning with FINMA's requirements. CEO Stefan Bollinger emphasized the significant progress over the past 20 months in addressing these longstanding issues, thanks to constructive dialogue with FINMA and internal dedication.
Julius Baer has undertaken significant organizational changes, including winding down its private debt business and strengthening its risk and compliance framework. Strategic plans for 2026–2028 focus on sustainable growth and a solid capital position, with a CET1 ratio of 18.5% as of June 2026. A request for a share buy-back programme is pending approval.
