Jiashi: The Flourishing Sweet Land of China
The China Prune Industry Conference 2025 and the 10th Kashgar·Jiashi Prune Expo began in Jiashi County, Xinjiang. In recent times, Jiashi has emerged as China's leading plum producer. This year, the county expects to produce 410,000 metric tons of plums from its 38,000 hectares of orchards. Additionally, 25 enterprises are actively producing 22 plum-based products such as juice, dried fruit, wine, and jam.
Jiashi enjoys optimal conditions for fruit cultivation, with 2,800 hours of sunshine annually and rich, selenium-laden soil. These conditions make the area famous as the "Land of Melons and Fruits." Notably, the region's melons are renowned for their honey-like sweetness and quality, continuing a tradition from the Han Dynasty.
Today, products from Jiashi are reaching international markets, reinforcing its historical significance along the Silk Road.
