Interhome: Surge in Sustainable Holiday Home Bookings Across Europe
Interhome, a leader in holiday-home rental management, has noted a significant increase in sustainable summer bookings within key European markets. Between 2020 and 2025, bookings surged over 100%, with sustainable options rising from 16.7% to 29.5% of total summer bookings according to their new Sustainable Summer Booking Trends series.
Italy leads with a 40.1% share of sustainable bookings, followed closely by Germany and Switzerland. Spain and France show varying levels of uptake. Key sustainability features increasing in demand include recycling, EV charging, and solar panel installations, especially in France, Italy, and Spain.
Interhome's CEO, Jörg Herrmann, highlights the company's role in driving market changes and providing insights. The growth in sustainable properties is attributed to investments by property owners in renewable energy and efficient appliances. Interhome emphasizes the importance of sustainability in travel decision-making.
