Hong Kong Maintains Top Spot as World's Freest Economy

Hong Kong has been recognized once again as the world's freest economy by the Fraser Institute's Economic Freedom of the World 2026 Annual Report, maintaining its lead among 165 jurisdictions. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government expressed satisfaction, highlighting its premier ranking in "Freedom to trade internationally".

Despite global economic challenges, Hong Kong remains dedicated to its zero-tariff policy and low tax regime, providing a stable, fair business environment. The "one country, two systems" framework strengthens its global connections and supports its roles as a 'super connector' for international and Mainland markets.

Hong Kong continues to excel in international competitiveness rankings, attracting enterprises and talent worldwide. With a record number of foreign enterprises and successful talent admission schemes, the region demonstrates its appeal as a business and investment hub. The HKSAR's strategic efforts aim to bolster economic and social development in the coming years.
