Imerys to Acquire Great Lakes Minerals
On April 10, 2026, Imerys announced a binding agreement to acquire Great Lakes Minerals, a renowned U.S. processor and distributor of minerals for the refractory and abrasive industry. This strategic move aims to enhance Imerys' portfolio with essential materials such as calcined bauxite, mullite, and fused alumina.
The acquisition positions Imerys as a key supplier in North America, supported by strategically located industrial assets along the Ohio River in Kentucky. This location offers advantageous barge-to-plant feedstock handling capabilities. The company anticipates annual revenue of $80 million post-integration, benefiting also from industrial reshoring to the USA.
The transaction, set to conclude in the first half of 2026, is subject to standard closing conditions. Imerys remains a global leader in mineral-based specialty solutions, committed to sustainable development and listed on Euronext Paris.
