Hublot Explores Ancient History with Antikythera Mission

Hublot SA has announced a unique documentary project, in collaboration with Swiss content creator Anil Brancaleoni, focusing on the Greek island of Antikythera. This joint initiative is available on Hublot and Anil B's YouTube channels, highlighting an 18-day expedition blending ancient history with modern technology.

Since 2014, Hublot’s Xplorations department has supported archaeological missions on Antikythera by developing state-of-the-art underwater drones. These drones assist in uncovering and preserving artefacts from the island's famous ancient shipwreck location.

The documentary follows the exploration team as they investigate the site where the Antikythera mechanism, an ancient astronomical calculator from 60 BCE, was found. Hublot had previously paid homage to this mechanism by launching the Antikythera watch, a wrist-worn horological expression of its functions.

Head of R&D at Hublot, Mathias Buttet, underscores the symbolic value of every watch movement. Through this project, Hublot demonstrates its dedication to fusing watchmaking precision, historical exploration, and cutting-edge innovation.
