Huawei Wins GSMA Award for Tech4Nature Jaguar Conservation Project

On May 14, 2026, Huawei was awarded the GSMA Global Mobile LATAM award for its Tech4Nature initiative in Dzilam de Bravo Nature Reserve, Yucatan, Mexico. The award, presented at M360 LATAM 2026, acknowledges the use of technology for jaguar conservation.

The project is a collaboration involving Huawei, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and local entities. It employs AI for species detection, boosting conservation efforts. Since 2022, the project has used technology like camera traps and acoustic devices to track wildlife, identifying 147 species, including 16 jaguars.

Data from Huawei's cloud solutions aids in forming conservation policies, expanding the reserve area from 69,000 to 104,000 hectares. The initiative highlights Huawei’s dedication to sustainable technologies for environmental and community benefits.
