Huawei Unveils Peerium Computing Architecture for AI Era
Huawei has introduced the Peerium Computing Architecture, a breakthrough designed for the AI era. This architecture allows processors to function as a single computer unit, addressing the increasing demand for AI computation. It utilizes nested parallelism and unified memory addressing to reach the million-processor scale.
The architecture challenges traditional models with Nested BSP, moving beyond the Turing and master-slave architectures. UnifiedBus (UB), a crucial interconnect technology, facilitates limitless scaling by connecting various components such as CPUs and NPUs.
The first generation includes the Atlas 950 SuperPoD and SuperCluster systems, with the Atlas 960 under testing. Huawei's Eric Xu highlighted the architecture's role in enhancing computing power and accessibility for AI applications.
