Huawei's 6th Innovation and IP Forum Highlights Open Innovation
Huawei held its sixth Innovation and Intellectual Property Forum on November 11, 2025, emphasizing the importance of openness and IP protection. The event, attended by global experts, celebrated its "Top Ten Inventions" award. Huawei's Chief Legal Officer Liuping Song reaffirmed the company's commitment to open innovation, highlighting the importance of respecting and protecting IP rights.
In 2024, Huawei reported a patent licensing revenue of $630 million, significantly less than the royalties it paid, showcasing its active participation in the IP ecosystem. The company submitted 6,600 PCT applications and set a record by publishing 37,000 patents. Huawei's technology contributions extend to open-source software and academic publications, solidifying its role in driving innovation.
The forum also introduced updates to the Chaspark Patent platform, enhancing research accessibility with features like semantic search. Through collaboration, Huawei aims to foster an environment that promotes IP protection and industry growth.
