Huawei Unveils AI-Native Core for Future Mobile Networks

On October 15, 2026, Huawei announced its vision for an AI-native core network essential for supporting the emerging agentic era. Traditional mobile networks, once focused on voice calls and internet access, now require major evolution to manage growing numbers of AI agents.

Huawei's report suggests AI agents may reach 900 billion globally by 2035. Essential upgrades include intent-based interfaces and dynamic AI decision-making embedded into network architectures.

The company highlighted three service scenarios: Agent Over New Radio for latency assurance, Wide-Area Computing Network for efficiency gains, and Agent Computing Network for secure collaboration. These innovations aim to transform networks from mere data transfer platforms to enablers of task-oriented services.

Huawei outlined two evolutionary stages: initial AI capabilities overlay and AI-native networks, leading to "enhanced connectivity" and "beyond connectivity" services. This transition necessitates comprehensive ICT ecosystem collaboration to unlock new business opportunities.
