HSBC Continental Europe's Interim Results 2026

On August 3, 2026, HSBC Continental Europe announced its financial results for the first half of the year, noting a decline in key financial metrics. The net operating income fell to €1,580 million from €1,807 million in the first half of 2025. This decrease was largely due to reduced revenues following the exit from non-core business activities, though growth in transaction banking and asset management partly offset this.

Expected credit losses saw a decrease, with a charge of €31 million compared to €73 million the previous year. Operating expenses also dropped to €1,162 million, aided by reduced restructuring costs. Despite these savings, profit before tax decreased to €387 million from €442 million.

The reported profit after tax plummeted to €46 million from €373 million, influenced by a notable loss from the sale of HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. Total assets increased to €266 billion by mid-2026, while measures like the liquidity coverage ratio remained robust at 151%.
