Hong Kong International Airport Unveils Expanded Terminal 2
The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) marked a new milestone on May 27, 2026, with the inauguration of its expanded Terminal 2 (T2). This development aims to bolster Hong Kong's status as a premier global aviation hub.
In 2025, HKIA managed 61 million passenger trips, reflecting a 15% year-on-year growth. The airport has received numerous accolades, including "Best Airport in the World" at the Global Travel Awards 2026 and "Best Airport in China" for three consecutive years at the TTG China Travel Awards.
The new T2 is designed to enhance passenger experiences with 68 express self-bag drop counters, 58 smart check-in kiosks, and various retail and dining options. HKIA also maintained its position as the world's busiest air cargo airport, handling 5.07 million tonnes last year.
