HMS Bergbau AG Reports Strong Preliminary Financial Results for H1 2026
HMS Bergbau AG has disclosed its preliminary financial results for the first half of 2026, revealing a significant leap in revenue. The German commodities firm saw its revenue soar by 71%, reaching approximately EUR 1.1 billion, up from EUR 643 million the previous year. The company's adjusted EBITDA was reported at EUR 14.1 million, while EBITDA, including one-off items, increased to EUR 22.5 million, largely due to a successful consolidation of the South African mining company Hoshoza Resources Vryheid, which contributed EUR 8.4 million in earnings.
The first half of the year marked a significant milestone for HMS as it commenced operations at its coal mines in South Africa and Botswana, with full production anticipated later in 2026. Additionally, the company expanded its trading activities in metal ores and entered an exclusive eight-year agreement for chromite ore from the Langpan mining project in South Africa. Notably, March and April were record months in terms of tonnage handled.
HMS maintains a positive outlook for 2026, projecting a full-year revenue of EUR 2 billion and an increase in adjusted EBITDA to EUR 35 million.
