Hikvision Introduces AI-Powered Video Compression with Significant Cost Savings
Hikvision has launched Guanlan Encoding, an AI-driven video compression technology, achieving 30%–50% average storage savings without affecting footage quality. As video resolutions and retention periods increase, storage costs have risen in the video security domain. Built on the H.265 standard and powered by Hikvision's AI model, Guanlan Encoding can halve HDD requirements and reduce power consumption, thus lowering total project costs.
Guanlan Encoding uses precision Region of Interest (ROI) segmentation to identify and maintain clarity of key objects while compressing background data. It introduces Dynamic Sensing and Static Optimization modes for intelligent, on-demand encoding.
Tests reveal significant bitrate savings across various environments. The technology is compatible with existing H.265 decoders and supported across multiple Hikvision product lines.
