HDF Energy and VIMC join forces for decarbonized maritime transport

On June 12, 2025, green hydrogen specialist HDF Energy and Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) signed a strategic agreement during the Vietnamese Prime Minister's visit to France. This partnership aims to reduce the carbon footprint of Vietnamese maritime transport through the integration of green hydrogen and fuel cells from HDF.
Vietnam's maritime sector, crucial to its economy, is a major emitter of greenhouse gases. This agreement aligns with the International Maritime Organization's goals for carbon neutrality by 2050 and the commitments made at COP26.
The two entities will collaborate on feasibility studies and pilot projects to validate the efficiency of hydrogen-powered vessels. VIMC is also investing in green ports and the electrification of equipment to optimize energy consumption.
