Hapag-Lloyd Reports Strong Start to 2025 Amid Uncertainties

Hapag-Lloyd's preliminary figures for Q1 2025 reveal a promising start. The company reported a 17% rise in Group EBITDA, reaching USD 1.1 billion, and a 24% increase in EBIT, totaling USD 0.5 billion. These results stem from a 9% increase in both transport volume and freight rates, driven by robust demand.

Despite this positive start, Hapag-Lloyd maintains a cautious outlook for 2025. CEO Rolf Habben Jansen cited market uncertainties, including geopolitical tensions and volatile freight rates, as reasons for expecting lower earnings for the year.

The Executive Board projects 2025 Group EBITDA between USD 2.5 to 4.0 billion. Hapag-Lloyd plans to advance its Strategy 2030, focusing on efficiency, digitalization, and decarbonization. The company's AGM will address these developments in detail.
