Hanseatic Global Terminals to Invest in Brazilian Container Terminal
Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT), a subsidiary of Hapag-Lloyd AG, has signed an agreement with Imetame Group to invest in a new container terminal project in Aracruz, Espírito Santo, Brazil. HGT will acquire 50% of Imetame Logística Porto (ILP) shares, with the new terminal expected to begin operations by mid-2028. The facility will have a capacity of approximately 1.2 million TEU and include 750 meters of quay length.
This terminal serves as a modern transshipment and gateway port facility with advanced container handling equipment. It aims to improve Brazil's trade infrastructure, providing closer and more efficient access to global markets. The joint venture aligns with HGT's strategy to expand its terminal portfolio to over 30 by 2030, boosting regional job opportunities and business development.
