GRENKE AG Increases Earnings and New Business in Q1 2026
GRENKE AG reported a significant increase in group earnings, reaching EUR 15.5 million in the first quarter of 2026, compared to EUR 10.2 million in the same period the previous year. This rise was driven by a strong 10.2% growth in operating income to EUR 170.8 million, while costs rose by only 2.2%. The cost-income ratio improved to 52.6%.
Leasing new business grew by 4.2%, totaling EUR 786.4 million. Growth was prominent in Germany, France, and Italy. Western Europe led the regional increase, with Southern Europe and the DACH region also showing substantial gains. However, Northern/Eastern Europe saw a decline due to the expiration of subsidies in Finland.
CEO Dr. Sebastian Hirsch emphasized GRENKE's agile and profitable management amid challenging conditions. CFO Dr. Martin Paal highlighted the impact of cost control on results. GRENKE's refinancing was reinforced by a EUR 500 million bond issuance.
