GENFIT Initiates Phase 2 Trials for Nangibotide in ACLF
GENFIT has announced the advancement of nangibotide into Phase 2 clinical trials for treating Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure (ACLF). This follows GENFIT's acquisition of the asset in the summer of 2026, aiming to address high unmet medical needs. Owned by GENFIT, nangibotide is a late-stage asset supported by strong scientific data on the TREM-1 pathway.
In recent Phase 2 trials, nangibotide showed promising results, notably reducing mortality in severe COVID-19 and improving conditions in septic shock patients. With over 400 participants tested, the drug maintains a favorable safety profile. GENFIT plans to commence a proof-of-concept study in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Details will be released at The Liver Meeting® in November 2026, highlighting GENFIT's commitment to pioneering therapies for serious liver diseases. The company is prepared for a fast track in clinical development, leveraging their robust regulatory and chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) packages.
