La Française de l'Énergie, a pioneer in natural hydrogen in France
La Française de l'Énergie (FDE) has reached a key milestone by obtaining the exclusive "Trois Évêchés" permit for the exploration of natural hydrogen in the Moselle and Meurthe-et-Moselle regions. This five-year permit marks a strategic turning point for energy development in France and Europe, strengthening energy sovereignty and competitiveness. Initial drilling in Moselle has revealed a significant concentration of hydrogen at medium depths, validating the geological potential of the Lorraine basin.
Known for its low carbon emissions and attractive production costs, natural hydrogen could reduce energy dependence. The work carried out by FDE within the framework of the REGALOR II program, funded by an €8.8 million EU grant, aims to study its industrial exploitation.
