EUROPLASMA: The Brittany Foundry innovates in the protection of submarine cables
Europlasma has announced that its subsidiary, Fonderie de Bretagne (FDB), is collaborating with the Pennavel floating offshore wind project. The objective is to study the manufacture of cast iron half-shells to protect the submarine cables used in wind turbine infrastructure.
In response to the "AO5 Sud Bretagne" tender, Pennavel aims to contribute to France's carbon neutrality by 2050. FDB has therefore manufactured a 13 kg prototype for 66 kV cables. This component is designed to protect marine cables when underground installation is not feasible.
This development aligns with FDB's diversification strategy, leveraging its expertise to penetrate new markets. The technical demonstration of this innovation confirms its effectiveness, already proven in other wind farms in France.
