Eurofins Supports Global Effort Against Hantavirus Outbreak
Eurofins Scientific has announced its active role in monitoring and addressing the hantavirus outbreak, specifically the Andes strain. As of May 12, 11 cases, including three deaths, were linked to a cruise ship outbreak. The World Health Organization expects more cases but sees no indicators of a larger outbreak.
Eurofins utilizes its global laboratory network to support health authorities. In the United States, Eurofins Viracor is developing molecular detection tests using quantitative real-time PCR and next-generation sequencing. Meanwhile, Eurofins Clinical Diagnostic Spain adopts molecular and serological techniques to study the virus.
In France, Eurofins Biomnis collaborates as a screening lab, enhancing detection capabilities. Germany's Gold Standard Diagnostics offers rapid antibody detection tests. Eurofins maintains vigilance in monitoring developments.
